Adrenal insufficiency was first recognized in 1855 as a consequence of tuberculosis outbreaks. Sadly it has fallen off the medical community's radar, despite our endocrine systems being bombarded with new types of stimuli on a weekly basis leading to adrenal overload. This can cause those with the illness to go undiagnosed until the late stages of the disease due to being written off as "stress". This is extremely distressing to those that suffer from it as lack of treatment can cause severe psychosis which can further delay life saving treatment.

While adrenal insufficiency is an uncommon condition where your adrenal glands stop producing the hormones necessary to shut off the fight or fly response, an emerging relative known as "adrenal fatigue" can be just as debilitating and mimic a lot of the symptoms of Addison's. It is also way more common. While many struggle to obtain a diagnosis of adrenal fatigue, the symptoms are very real to those that suffer from it. We hope this rabbit will bring some light to both these issues and achieve the recognition these conditions deserve.

Note: This rabbit was designed by artists who suffer from primary and secondary adrenal insufficiency respectively.

The symbol on the chest is the alchemical symbol for "Process" (milling, grinding, crushing) and refers to the stress on the adrenal glands to make cortisol even when they are exhausted and unable to do so.

 Symbolism:

Alchemical Symbol for Process on chest, indicating the lack of "process" to metabolize stress due to being unable to make cortisol or being drained of it

IMPORTANT NOTE Regarding the design of our Plushie Dreadfuls. We take these topics seriously. That's why our design team only creates plushies related to issues with which they have direct experience. In cases where our team does not have direct experience, we assemble an external team of experts to help guide our creative process. In addition, we use Crowd Design to engage a wide range of voices via platforms like Instagram and Facebook. We gather and respond to feedback from our audience - many of whom have direct experience with the issues we're exploring. And while we strive to represent as many aspects of a particular issue as possible while avoiding stereotypical representations, we hope you understand that plush toys as an artistic medium do limit the full expression of a particular issue to those things that can be crafted in fabric and stitching.

      They're beyond precious

I'm in love, when they arrived today I actually almost cried as soon as I unwrapped them.

I've been a fan of the Alice games for such a long time, they hold a special place in my heart for their messages and wildly imaginative, dark and unique design and storytelling approaches,

I love (most) of the ways McGee manages to translate his distinct style to such a different line of products, I've been following the mysterious brand and community feedback processes for many years already as well, always kept eyeing the new releases, but felt a bit excessive to splurge on ordering stuffed rabbits all the way to Germany. How silly of me.

Perfect timing, never had anything even close to how well-made and huggable these plushies are. They're SO damn soft, still can't stop petting their floppy ears, and just everything about them in general is ridiculously adorable.

I love how quirky and different they all look. The totebags are awesome as well. Immensely worth it and I'm so happy I finally made the choice to get them.

Immediately cut off their labels and trimmed the fur around their noses a little so you can see their tiny cute pouts a little better. It's something I take issue with in general, not just with the Dreadfuls. I know it's a minor detail, but I would love to see the way longer hair moves on the face taken into consideration a bit more, as the expressions being properly conveyed and fully visible even when fluffing them up is quite essential imo. Doesn't matter, I…
